Antique Letterpress Printer Electrotype Hymnal Music for sale in Ephrata, PA

1 of 1
This is a vintage/antique(? ) electrotype letterpress printing plate with the hymn " Lead Me to Calvary" written by Jennie Evelyn Hussie which is in the public domain. This hymn (here No. 78) has been published in 117 different hymnals but I am uncertain in which hymnal this particular print appeared or, in fact, whether it was ever printed at all. The first verse is as follows: King of my life I crown Thee now- Thine shall the glory be; Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, Lead me to Calvary. Credit: Hymnary. org This printing plate was discovered at an estate sale along with 63 others packaged in two small but very robust wooden crates marked " PROPERTY OF CHRISTIAN PUBLICATIONS, INC. " (CPI). At one time CPI was the publishing house for the Christian and Ministry Alliance, but CPI was forced into bankruptcy around 2006 and its assets were liquidated. This printing plate is not mounted on wood. It is about 8" high, almost 6" wide, 1/8" thick and weighs 2 pound 7 ounces. Please see the photos for details concerning it's condition which I describe as very good to excellent. It would make an excellent display piece on your mantle, or a nice addition to a collection of printing memorabilia. PLEASE NOTE: THE FIRST 8 PHOTOS SHOW THE PLATE IN REVERSE AS IT ACTUALLY APPEARS (as would be expected of a printing plate). Through a trick of photography, the last 4 photos show the plate IN POSITIVE SO YOU CAN READ IT MORE EASILY, BUT THESE ARE NOT ACCURATE REPRESENTATIONS OF THE PLATE AS IT ACTUALLY APPEARS! I welcome questions or requests for additional photos so please don't hesitate to contact me.
